01 -
Follow the directions from the Devil's Food cake mix packaging to whip up the cake batter. Typically, this includes mixing it with eggs, oil, and water before popping it in the oven. Be sure it bakes until it's soft and fluffy.
02 -
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool somewhat. Before it gets completely cold, carefully cut it into small squares. Slight warmth helps the milk soak in better.
03 -
Evenly pour the sweetened condensed milk over all the cake pieces, making sure every bit gets some love. Let it soak for a bit so the cake fully absorbs the milk.
04 -
Scoop a third of the soaked cake pieces and place them evenly at the base of the trifle bowl. Lay them out as flat as possible since this is your foundation.
05 -
Spread a third of the whipped cream on top of the cake layer. Pour some caramel sauce generously over the cream, then sprinkle plenty of Heath toffee bits.
06 -
Repeat the process with the remaining cake, whipped cream, caramel, and toffee bits. Do it two more times so you end up with three delicious layers overall.
07 -
Take the King-Sized Heath bar you crushed earlier and evenly sprinkle the pieces over the topmost whipped cream layer for a sweet finish.
08 -
Cover the bowl with a lid or some plastic wrap and let it sit in the fridge for at least a couple of hours. Letting it chill a bit longer makes the flavors blend better.
