Easy Lasagna Casserole (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 2 cups uncooked penne pasta
02 - 1 tbsp olive oil
03 - 1 lb lean ground beef
04 - 1 large yellow onion, chopped
05 - 1 tbsp garlic powder
06 - 2 tsp Italian seasoning
07 - Salt to taste
08 - Black pepper to taste

→ Cheese and Sauce

09 - 1 cup cottage cheese
10 - 24 oz jar of pasta sauce
11 - 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded

→ Garnish

12 - Basil, chopped

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 350F and grease a 9x13 casserole dish. Boil penne pasta according to instructions, just 1 minute less than instructed, to keep it al dante. Drain it.
02 - Place a skillet over medium-high heat. Add in the olive oil, ground beef, onion, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt and black pepper. Stir all of the ingredients together, breaking the meat apart. Cook for 7-8 minutes until the beef has browned.
03 - Add in the cottage cheese and stir it in well.
04 - Pour over the pasta sauce and mix well.
05 - Stir in the cooked pasta.
06 - Transfer the mixture to the greased casserole dish and level it out. Top up with mozzarella cheese.
07 - Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown on the edges.
08 - Garnish with chopped basil before serving.
