Spicy Beef Sweet Mix (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/4 cup (60g) buffalo sauce
02 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
03 - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
04 - 1/2 tablespoon olive oil or chili oil
05 - 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
06 - 1/2 cup (96g) dark brown sugar
07 - 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
08 - 1 pound extra lean ground beef
09 - 2 tablespoons (30g) rice vinegar
10 - 1 teaspoon ground ginger

# Instructions:

01 - Whisk together everything needed for the sauce. Set it aside for now.
02 - Put a large skillet on medium heat. Add oil, then sear the ground beef on both sides for about 1-2 minutes. Break it up and cook completely.
03 - Add the sauce to the beef and mix. Leave it still for 30–60 seconds so the bottom caramelizes. Stir again, letting the beef get coated and develop crispy edges.
04 - Plate this over noodles or rice. Top with sesame seeds and scallions if you’d like.

# Notes:

01 - Nutrition info uses extra lean 96/4 ground beef and dark brown sugar. Swap in zero-carb brown sugar for fewer carbs and calories.
02 - Using fresh ginger and garlic instead of powders gives a brighter flavor. Sauté them in 1/2 tablespoon oil before adding sauce.
03 - Mix in cooked veggies or serve with cucumber salad or roasted vegetables to make a full meal.
