Flaky Buttery Scones (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 tsp salt.
02 - 1/2 cup sugar (100g).
03 - 2 cups flour (250g).
04 - 1/2 cup frozen butter (113g).
05 - 1/2 cup heavy cream (120ml).
06 - 2 1/2 tsp baking powder.
07 - 1 large egg.
08 - Coarse sugar for topping.
09 - 1-1.5 cups mix-ins.
10 - 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract.

# Instructions:

01 - Stir together sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Shred the cold butter into this mix and toss gently until crumbly.
02 - Whisk the egg, vanilla, and cream in a small bowl. Pour it onto the flour mixture along with the mix-ins, turning it into a soft dough with gentle mixing.
03 - On a floured counter, flatten the dough into a circle about 8 inches wide. Slice it into 8 triangle pieces.
04 - Pop it in the fridge for 15 minutes after brushing with cream and sprinkling sugar on top.
05 - Set the pieces on a parchment-lined tray and bake in a 400°F oven for 18-26 minutes. Take them out when they’re golden.

# Notes:

01 - Cold butter makes the final texture light and layered.
02 - Don’t skip refrigerating—it makes a difference.
03 - You can freeze them ahead for later.
